

Wandering around the Suffolk Country & Coastline
The Harbour- Southwold (Circular)
Approx 1.5 Hours (without stopping)
Begin by either walking South along the beach until you reach the River Blyth and walk the harbour wall, or take the Ferry Road across South Green. Which ever way you decide you will end up at the Alfred Cor-ry Lifeboat Museum. Walk along the Blackshore, where you will pass the fishing boats and fishermen huts. You will pass an array of businesses from boat builders to the Harbour Inn (perfect for a pit stop). During the summer months, from here you can be rowed across the river to Walberswick (paying a small fee to the ferry driver), where you will find The Bell or The Anchor- both Adnams pubs with a reputation of good food. Once you reach the Harbour Inn turn right and walk across the marshes & golf course. This will lead you back to the high street.
Walberswick
Approx 2 Hours
Starting at the Harbour Inn (Southwold), walk across the foot bridge- Bailey Bridge (approx 30 mins) & then the old railway line will take you into Walberswick. You may want to pop into one of the pubs for a spot of lunch. During the summer you can catch the ferry back (for a small fee), to decrease the walking time.
The Sailors Path Walk, Aldeburgh- Snape
Approx 3.45 - 4 Hours
The sailors path walk, gets its name as it is the route that was used for 100's of years by the sailors. The route is full of history and delightful views of the reed beds and the River Alde. You will cross Snape Marshes, a vital wildlife habitat, you might be lucky enough to see an otter. The walk will take you through Snape Warren Nature Reserve, listen out for yellowhammers, nightjars and woodlark. When you get to Aldeburgh you can enjoy the seaside with some Fish & Chips and a nice refreshing beverage.
BlythBurgh- Walberswick/Southwold
Approx 1-1.5 Hours
Walk straight from the Nest to the seaside. From The Nest, follow the roads to The White Hart, go through their garden and follow the railway. 3 miles to Walberswick and 3.7 miles to Southwold.
Dunwich Heath (Circular)
This route shows the fascinating Suffolk Coastline and goes through Dunwich Heath and Greyfriars Wood, offering views of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This route is mainly flat so suitable for a wide range of ages and fitness levels. "
